The Asia Oceania Geosciences Society invites nominations for its prestigious Axford Lecture, Kamide Lecture, and Section Lectures. We seek leading experts and outstanding young scientists whose groundbreaking work exemplifies excellence in our field.
Key Details
- Kamide Lecture: An award lecture named in honour of Professor Y. Kamide, one of the Society's three key founders, recognizing exceptional scientific contributions by outstanding early career scientists.
- Axford Lecture: A society-level plenary lecture named after another key founder, Sir Ian Axford, celebrating transformative advancements in our discipline.
- Section Distinguished Lectures: Topic-focused lectures highlighting innovation within the society's 8 sections - Atmospheric, Biogeosciences, Hydrological, Interdisciplinary, Ocean, Planetary, Solar & Terrestrial and Solid Earth
Nomination Process
- All nominations must be submitted electronically via the MARS system. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. Nominate colleagues whose vision and achievements merit these distinguished platforms. Submissions close 18 October 2025. Cut-off time is 11:55PM Singapore Time (GM+8)

The Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS) invites you to nominate deserving peers for our prestigious annual awards, honouring exceptional contributions to the Society and groundbreaking achievements across all geosciences disciplines. Help us celebrate excellence in research, mentorship, and innovation!
- Nomination closes 13 Mar 2026. Cut-off time is 11:55PM Singapore Time (GMT+8)
- Self-nomination is not allowed
- Confirm you nominee's eligibility and willingness in advance
- An individual may receive ONE nomination each for a Key Lecture and an Award
- Awardees will be recognized at the AOGS Annual Meeting (2 to 7 August, 2026)

Announcement of Winners
- Award recipients will be announced on Apr-May of the annual meeting year
- Axford Medal, Wing Ip Medal and Honorary Award winners will each receive a plaque, financial support, and free admission to the annual meeting when the awards will be presented.
- The papers pertaining to the distinguished lectures given by the winners of the Axford Medal, Wing Ip Medal, and Kamide Lecture Award will be published in the society's journal after they are presented at the annual meeting. The society will pay the article processing charge.
- Winners of the Fellow Award will each receive a certificate at the annual meeting where the awards will be presented.
