IBS Center for Climate Physics

The IBS Center for Climate Physics (ICCP) was established in January, 2017 as the first Earth Science center within the Institute for Basic Science (IBS). ICCP seeks to expand the frontiers of earth system science by conducting cutting edge research into climate dynamics and utilizing high-performance computer simulations, with the goal of improving decadal earth system forecasts and longterm projection.

Japan Geoscience Union

The Japan Geoscience Union (JpGU), with more than 9,000 members, is a multidisciplinary geoscience organization based in Japan promoting excellence in all fields related to Earth and planetary science. This year we had the first joint meeting with AGU, the JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting 2020. The JpGU also publishes a peer-reviewed open access e-journal, Progress in Earth and Planetary Science (PEPS) in partnership with SpringerOpen.

Korea Ocean Satellite Center

KOSC, in the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) is in charge of operation of the Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) onboard a Korean geostationary satellite called the Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS), which was launched in June, 2010. The next ocean color sensor, GOCI-II, which will be loaded on the Geo-Kompsat 2B, will be launched next year in 2019 and in succession to GOCI. The roles of KOSC include real-time satellite operation, scientific algorithm and application technique development, operational computing system development, and sensor/hardware development for GOCI/GOCI-II.

Korean Meteorological Society

The Korean Meteorological Society (KMS) has been devoted to improve our understanding of earth’s environment with a particular focus on atmospheric sciences, climate, and events caused by severe weather, climate change, and air pollution. The KMS publishes both international and domestic peer-reviewed journals, 'Asia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences' and 'Atmosphere'.
