General Rules for AOGS Award Nominations

Eligibility

  1. Self-nomination is not allowed.
  2. Only complete nomination packages submitted online through MARS will be considered.
  3. Serving Council members and serving members of the Awards Committee may neither be nominated nor act as nominators. Where an award taskforce is formed, its members are subject to the same restriction.
  4. A cooling-off period of one Meeting Year, as defined in Article 10.6 of the AOGS Constitution, applies after service before a former Council, committee or taskforce member may be nominated or act as a nominator.
  5. Nominators must declare any working relationship with the nominee, including relationships as Dean, Department Head or research collaborator.

Validity and Continuation of Nominations

  1. A complete nomination may be retained for up to three nomination rounds: the initial round and, where applicable, two further rounds.
  2. For a retained nomination to be considered in a subsequent round, the nominator must update at least the nominee's curriculum vitae and any other materials that require revision. A nomination that is not updated will not be considered.
  3. Scores from previous evaluations will not be carried forward.
  4. Where an unsuccessful nomination is assessed as requiring substantial strengthening before it is likely to succeed, it may be returned to the nominator for revision and resubmission.
  5. AOGS Council may withhold an award in any year if no nominee meets the required standard of excellence. Where an award is withheld for this reason, nominations in that award category will be closed and will not be carried forward to the next round.
