| Session Description | "The long-return period risk of coastal hazards such as storm surge and tsunami inundation, erosion and recession has typically been extrapolated from observations or stochastic simulations of process-based models. On the other hand, studies of palaeo-records also uncover the occurrence of such events over geological time scales. There has been a disconnect between these two approaches to examining coastal risk. This session aims to draw together these two research areas with the aim of contextualising low frequency high magnitude events within our understanding of coastal risk." |
