Co-convener(s) | Prof. James Li (Ryerson University, Canada) |
Session Description | Urban areas are considered the most vulnerable areas to climate change, e.g. sea level rise, storm surges, floods and droughts and other natural disasters exacerbated by climate change and climate variability. The climate change impact study on urban development has attracted many researchers’ attentions in the past few decades. However, there still remain numerous challenges due to the impact of climate change differs for coastal cities, mountain cities and low-latitude cities. In addition, for developing adaptation measures, it is very important to have a clearer understanding to the increase in frequencies of extreme climate events. The session is dedicated to presenting wide range of topics on urban hydrology, low impact development/sustainable urban drainage systems, flooding forecasts in urban area, adaptation measures for climate change in urban areas etc. We look forward to your contribution at AOGS 2015 in Singapore. |
