Session Description | Earth System Scientists and Marine Geochemists are interested in reconstructing the past environmental and oceanographic changes over the orbital to millennial timescales by using solid-phase geochemical proxies. Geochemical proxy data for paleoenvironmental and paleoceanographic changes could have large uncertainties, and thus this decade has witnessed the invention of several new proxies, catalyzing a renaissance of sediment geochemical research especially from South and East Asian regions. This session focuses on the advances made in using elemental and isotopic proxies for the past environmental and oceanographic changes in the low- and mid-latitude regions. We welcome contributions related to the critical evaluation of climate-environmental-specific proxies in modern and ancient terrestrial, lacustrine and oceanic environmental settings. |
