Brief Description
The session is open to any contribution about the present and past geodynamics of the Indian Ocean, including (but not limited to) the following topics: - Plate tectonic evolution of the Indian Ocean: from imprints in the ocean basins. - Passive margins around the Indian Ocean: the tale of Gondwanaland fragmentation. - Hotspot traces in the Indian Ocean : towards a more coherent story? - Evidences and implications of the compressive -subduction to collision- regimes in the northern Indian Ocean. - Central Indian Ocean: distributed deformation versus diffuse plate boundary(ies). - The Indian Ocean ridge system: variability, processes, and interaction with hotspots. - Peculiarities of convection beneath the Indian Ocean: geochemical and geophysical evidences. - Plate tectonic evolution of the Indian Ocean: grey areas and missing links.
