Brief Description
Reent studies present us with new ideas regarding the formation of ophiolites in fast, intermediate and slow spreading ridges. THere is also a need to evaluate ophiolites formed in embryonic oceans and passive continental margins. Moreover, information provided to us by studying present-day ocean floor will further enhance our understanding of ophiolites.
