Brief Description
Genesis of present day adakites is still under debate. Some genetic models are related to active subduction , with partial melting of the subducting oceanic crust,, either because it is hot and (relatively) young or because of strong shear forces. Some others denie any role to subduction and propose instead, the partial melting of the base of the underlying arc crust. The aim of this session would be to confront arguments and data in favor of one or the other model in order to demonstrate the validity of these models and their typical geodynamic framework. Data can be provided by trace elements geochemistry, isotopic geochemistry, experimental petro- geochemistry, but also from geophysical constraints ….
