Brief Description
The role of the seismic hazard assessment is of paramount importance for the sustainable development of economies and societies, since it is a fundamental pre-disaster tool for the seismological and engineering community. The input for the seismic risk analysis can be expressed with a description of ground-shaking scenarios or with hazard maps of relevant parameters of the ground motion. The goal of this session is to present a review of the various techniques, based on recent empirical or theoretical approaches, for the seismic hazard (and risk) assessment and for the realistic definition of the seismic input.
