Brief Description
The onset and development of satellite sensors for the earth environment marks a new era in the study of ocean and ice dynamics, productivity, and climate. The Pacific Ocean is vast and relatively poorly explored and documented, particularly in the tropics and South Hemisphere. In this session, various remote sensing sensors for both ocean and ice applications will be addressed (e.g., SAR, IR, Radiometer, Scatterometer, Altimeter, and ocean color). The topics include, but not limited to, ocean circulation dynamics, wind and waves, water properties, sea ice motion and condition, fisheries and coastal monitoring, and environmental management. This session would also provide recent advancement on calibration, validation, and algorithms of satellite image processing for the operational use of remote sensing data.
