Brief Description
Inland sesa, great lakes and other landlocked large water bodies are often used as anlog systems to study the physical oceanography of the coastal oceans. Coastal ocean circulation, transport processes are aften investigated and modelled using Inland seas and the Great Lakes. Several major experiments such as the International Field Year on the North American Great Lakes in 1972, the Gulf of Bothnia Year(Baltic sea) in 1991, Greal Lakes Coastal Ocean Processes have contributed to the understanding of the coastal ocean physical oceanography. The session will highlight the contributions made to our understanding of the coastal physical oceanography.
