Brief Description
Each winter and spring the northeasterly monsoon following each cold front brings Asian continental air to the Pacific and beyond. The winter monsoon brings not only cold air, but also significant amount of aerosols, dust storms and other atmospheric trace species from the Asian Continent over a long distance. As a result, they can have a significant impact on the atmospheric environment and ecological system over the Pacific and surrounding areas. In this session, we would like to invite presentations on the observational and modeling studies of the Asian Dust Storm and long-range transport of atmospheric trace species.
