Brief Description:
The aim of this Workshop (EOS 2004) is to bring together geophysicists, atmospheric scientists, oceanographers, space scientists, computational scientists, applied mathematicians and engineers interested in the interdisciplinary study of the nonlinear dynamics of the complex Earth-oceans-space (EOS) system. It will cover both fundamental and applied research in instabilities, nonlinear waves, turbulence, chaos, complexity, self-organized criticality, scaling, multifractals, pattern formation, nonlinear data and image analysis, data assimilation; and their application to the study of coupling and prediction in the EOS system. Contributions from all these fields are invited. This Workshop will review the state-of-the-art of this multidisciplinary subject and plan the programme of the EOS Workshop Series in the coming years. This Workshop is organised jointly by WISER and AOGS. The World Institute for Space Environment Research - WISER (http://www.cea.inpe.br/wiser) is an international network dedicated to promote collaboration in space environment research and training, with emphasis on theoretical and computational studies of space plasmas, atmosphere and oceans, and the study of the impact of space climate on the Earth´s climate, environment and technology.
