Brief
Description
The
Second International Conference on Hydrology and Water Resources
in Asia Pacific Region (APHW 2004) is to be held in Singapore
from 5 to 7 July 2004, following the 1st conference held
in last March in Kyoto. NILIM (National Institute for Land
and Infrastructure Management, Japan) session is also to
be held during this conference as it was held in the last
conference. At this session, we were able to share some
lessons about water management histories and problems from
the reports made by 12 representative of eleven countries.
The aims of this second session include encouraging those
countries to apply the lessons, as well as to share the
information concerning the law and system about water management,
and the realities of applying them.
It is hard for engineers who have different backgrounds
to understand the intentions and the effects of laws and
systems of other countries without having any basic information
about their water management. Therefore, in organizing this
session, we request especially those countries, which had
attended the last session and shared information, to participate
this session. By doing so, we can avoid unnecessary obstacles
for the lessons to be applied, and discuss a further step
that is more focused on the law and system, and the actual
situation of its application. We do hope you would take
advantage of this session to find clues for the solutions
to the problems we are facing now by exchanging information
from various regional cases.
